I tried my first SkyFit trampoline fitness class at Miranda Westfield SkyZone and absolutely loved it! It was fun, sweaty and an awesome full body workout.

So what exactly is SkyFit?

SkyFit is basically a workout done on trampolines. It’s fun & fast paced and targets all areas of physical fitness; from strength & conditioning, to balance & coordination. This type of trampoline workout is classified as rebound exercise, which research by NASA claims is “the most efficient, effective form of exercise yet devised by man.” And I’d have to agree! I took the “No If’s Just Butts” class and whilst it was only 30minute session, my instructor had me working up a sweat within the first few minutes! 3. Tones your butt & legs, develops core strength & improves stability
With such an unstable surface, jumping on a trampoline means you need to engage all your muscle from head to toe to stay balanced throughout each movement. This means continual muscle stimulation throughout the entire 30minutes, especially of the core, back & lower body, which will help build ab strength & tone your butt & legs. Jumping also builds awareness of your body and a sense of balance and coordination, which helps develop your fine motor skills to assist in other sports that require hand-eye and general co-ordination.

4. Low impact on your joints & bones
If you have any joint, bone or mobility issues, or are undergoing rehab work, trampoline exercise may be your way to go! Trampolines absorb 80% of the impact you are doing plyometric (jumping) & explosive movements, so it reduces the stress placed on your joints. Unlike running or sports like tennis, netball & soccer, trampolining provides your body with an all-round workout while reducing the risk of injury to your joints, especially in your ankles and knees and strengthening your bones & tendons.

5. Improve overall health & energy levels

By regularly getting the blood pumping around your body in a Skyfit class, you fight fatigue, strengthen your immune system, improve hormone function & lower cholesterol, triglyceride (fat) & blood sugar levels.
