How I Edit My Instagram Photos

I’ve been getting a lot of questions about how I take my Instagram photos, what camera I use and how I edit my photos, so I’ve decided to put a little post together to explain what I do. And I am by no means a pro at this, so if you have any tips for me, I’d love to hear them!!

Question: Who takes your photos?:

“I take 99% of my own photos. Occasionally my husband will take a photo for me if I need to be in it, but I don’t want to turn him into an Instagram husband (seriously funny video haha), so I try not to ask him too often haha.”

Question: What camera do you use?
“I take all my photos on my iPhone 6s. I don’t own a proper camera but I would love to, so if you have any suggestions, let me know!”

Question: Do you have any tips for taking good photos?

1. Natural lighting – I always my photos in natural lighting when possible & if the lighting is a bit dim, I’ll brighten my pics up (see next question).
2. Use the iPhone camera – I always take my photos using my iPhone camera, not the Instagram camera; that way I can take multiple pics and edit them if I need to.
3. Turn the camera grid on – having the grid on means you can line your picture up and ensure its straight, instead of just guessing.

Question: How do you edit your photos?

 “I use the Snapseed App (which I got for free from the App Store), mostly just to brighten my photos. Unfortunately I don’t always have the best lighting in my unit, so I like to brighten them using Snapseed. I will occasionally use the Clarendon filter on Instagram too.”
